2. Beast is 8th: Rev 17:11 is sometimes used to rebut the Neronic date for the writing of Revelation. This is due to the fact that Otho Caesar is the eighth Roman emperor (on our enumeration). And yet Otho does not cause the revival of the Roman Empire, as required in my interpretation. Rather, he is a feature of its chaos and death in that he is one of the emperors during the "Year of the Four Emperors."
