Product Description

This article thirty page article was first published in the Spring, 1976, edition of The Baptist Reformation Review. It deals with the question of the nature of the evangelical response to the gospel. It answers the question: "Does the evangelical faith-response entail submission to the Lordship of Christ?" It argues that true faith involves submission to Christ's lordship.

The article was widely cited in the debate that reached its peak in the 1980s: "The Lordship Controversy." Among those citing it were Charles C. Ryrie, John MacArthur, Zane Hodges, and others. The article was eventually lengthened and published as a book (now out of print): Lord of the Saved.

The argument focuses on the nature of the problem in the debate, resolving it by considering the nature of faith, repentance, and discipleship. It provides important insights into the debate.
